In the village of Montellà, in “la Cerdanya”, we worked on the design and site supervision of the structural project of refurbishment of an old traditional-country-house. The challenge was to keep the outer original stone wall while emptying and constructing inside. Furthermore, the level of new foundations was lower than the existing wall and it was necessary to consolidate the base of it.
RC solid slabs with steel columns formed a scheme supported by adhoc foundations solutions that made compatible existing and new construction. All in a moderate seismic loads area.
